Nomadic Lifestyle

Often when relocating, leaving a relationship or going to school or otherwise leaving one life behind for a new one, living in shared housing offers a place to live without making a permanent commitment to a specific place before being sure of this new step.

Shared Housing

Posted on Shelter by Annamarie Pluhar · September 28, 2015 4:41 AM

Why would you want to share housing? The most common reason is that you need a place to live and can't afford to live alone. Other reasons for sharing housing are:

  • Additional Income
  • Social Connection
  • Extra Hands
  • Living light on the Earth

There is a definite process to finding a good home-mate(s), one(s) you can live with comfortably and harmoniously. This portion of the site maps that process, with helpful advice about what to look for, what to avoid, and when specific actions need to be taken.

Be sure to do the What do I want? What am I worried about? Worksheet before proceeding with the following information below.

Types of Shared Housing

"We've done the surveys. People say they're happier, sleeping and eating better and feeling safer in their homes with someone around. If I sold you that as a drug, you'd pay thousands."

Rabb.it

Posted on Contributor Toolbox by The Transition Team · July 17, 2015 4:12 AM

Rabbit is about sharing your everyday. Watch your favorite shows with your friends, without being in the same room (or even the rabbit.pngsame city!). Collaborate with your coworkers when you’re all on the road. Shop together for a birthday present for Mom, then sing her “happy birthday” with family far away. The possibilities are endless.

One of our favorite ways to use Rabb.it is to watch movies from our Movie Vault with friends and fellow BUD members who live far away! See how it is done in the video below.

Check it out for yourself!

What is "Revaluation Counseling"?

Posted on Terminology FAQ by The Transition Team · April 18, 2015 4:55 PM
A:

Revaluation Counseling is a form of peer counseling where people, usually in pairs, take turns being client and counselor. The purpose of the counseling is to feel and "discharge," through laughter, tears, anger, shivering, etc., painful feelings from the past that keep us from being completely alive and functioning in the present.

YouTube Tracker Rules

Posted on YouTube Tracker by Jon Norcross · April 14, 2015 7:19 PM
  1. YouTube Tracker: Promote Community

Videos should promote community building and living.

  2. YouTube Tracker: No RBE

Videos must not contain RBE in the name.

  3. YouTube Tracker: Positive Content

Content should be positive in nature and promote equality.  Ex. Pro-peace instead of anti-war. The issues we address on this site are reframed  so that, instead of fighting against something, contributors are asked to describe what they are "fighting" for, and to create a vision of the community they want to bring into existence

  4. YouTube Tracker: Comments Section

The YouTube Tracker Comments page is only for videos where you left a comment about The Transition and are looking for upvotes.
