1. I'm hoping you guys can help me find a way to use my skills and interests to do something meaningful. I've got some ideas, like using disruptive tech for good, getting intentional communities into amateur radio, and setting up non-commercial telecoms. But these are just ideas, not set in stone. Yeah sure, I can give as well as receive. I am quite infatuated with my own project that I’m working on, but I know that I can’t exclusively focus on it all day every day forever. Even though I really love it, I need to do other things too. I think I could find it a lot of fun to help others with their projects. I would learn about and gain experience with important things that I wouldn’t necessarily have pursued on my own and have a more balanced life that way. I went partway through the action plan years ago, and I felt transformed by doing so at that time. Being back now, I fully expect to evolve from it even more. 10. I don't really know. I’m sure it depends on a lot of different factors in the lives of the people who are on the receiving end of those portals and will vary to some degree. 11. Do you feel all of the above expectations you have provided are reasonable? I don't know, I hope so!

I hope to promote volunteerism for all - especially for those not usually considered valuable volunteers (i.e., youth, elderly, those less than physically able), and resolve concerns about choice and worth in a community setting. I plan to be active at least weekly, benefit and contribute both personally and professionally, and have several projects I am working on but cannot do alone that the Transition team may be able to assist with; and hope to be a very long term participant as I get to know more about this group. I will certainly promote the site as long as it is in alignment with my personal values, and do expect it to be life-altering as is everything one commits to supporting and engaging in. A reasonable expectation of a volunteer-based leadership team would be a response time to suggestions or requests of a few days to weeks. A final hopeful expectation of participation would be a group of people who literally will make a difference in our world in my lifetime - and I think all of these expectations are reasonable!

Connecting to people who think like me about the economic system

I hope this site will help provide a platform to co-create local, sustainable communities, serving as models and educational facilities. I hope to meet likeminded people in my corner of the world, and start an Ecovilage just north of Maynooth, Ontario, Canada. I have 43 acres of healthy, forested land that can support at least 20-50 people sustainably with a large nature reserve left virtually untouched. I have hard time with computers, websites and office stuff, but I’m quite skilled in permaculture and construction, with such specializations as LED lighting, landscaping, masonry, metal work, edible gardens and sustainable forest management. I believe that people of all ages and walks of life have something to contribute in a true community setting. My son is 6 now and I’m not planing to completely move to the land for another 10 years or so, but that never stoped me from planing, building and organizing there.

The site has provided a lot that can help us begin our journey. I only hope to not be alone for most of it. I expect the site to let me know that I'm not alone.

I'm comfortable and confident in my self and my abilities to provide for myself living at my parents. However I would like to branch off and move out with my best friend who is struggling at the moment. We are like our own 2 man seedling. We have BIG plans to contribute massively to this project in the future. However at the moment we are bogged down in figuring out a housing plan that has been changing day by day. I am comfortable here at my parents and they have an extra room. I'm awaiting a response from them if they will let him stay for 2 months to give us time to save up some money and move out. Worst case scenario we drive south to some place warm to be homeless for a bit while we figure out a source of income and a short term housing situation. 1. If we could find temporary housing here that would be ideal if not we'll eventually seek out housing when we travel south. So housing, food, and potential as money to travel to a job is the most we'll ever ask for. 2. Depends on what I'm focused on. But on average I'm guessing weekly because I don't like to spend much time on my phone. I prefer to garden and do face to face project/tasks/chores with for the seedling and bud at first until I shift focus to where I'm needed most. 3. I expect to do the bulk of the work and be the main leader/organizer for my bud. I'm very considerate, easy to work with and will prioritize our success like our lives depend on it. I'm not afraid to go a whole week straight without food or water. I only things I worry about for myself is warmth, connection and friends who have my back. 4. I'm serious in everything I do, however I'm not counting on this to work. I'm always searching for backup plans so to minimize my/our dependency. I don't want to get my seedlings hopes up and not deliver. I do all I can and when I feel myself getting to stressed I take a break, meditate, do breathwork and seek out help. I feel incredibly alone at my mission to help humanity transition to a new system. I need teamwork. I need a community of like-minded and kind-hearted individuals to understand what I am trying to do and want to help. A more harmonious and equal way of life has been on my agenda for a long time. I have come across various ideas through the years such as the Venus project through Zeitgeist, and other off grid small scale communities. I would like my own personal freedom, and it would be absolutely amazing to resolve poverty on a global scale. But let's start small shall we.. The thing that always stood out the most to me with Ubuntu was the '3 hours a week' idea. Who in their right mind could argue against 3 hours a week for all their basic needs. I intend to spend a similar amount of time if possible, looking at the ideas shared on this website and this organisation. I have several ideas based around tiny homes that at some point in my life, I would do, also based around ubuntu principles, but on a much smaller scale. For example, a tiny house village that contribute 3 hours a week to food growing opportunities around the site, which is then shared with the residents. Otherwise, I am open to see what is discussed and suggested on the website in the coming days with an open mind. Things will take time to change, and I have a realistic expectation of this. But as long as we continue to take small achievable steps along the way, we will get there!

As an individual and a professional I advocate for the Transition Town model as a tool for self- organizing communities to learn by sharing their own transition plans. The end game is to mainstream the idea of self reliant communities of all size that use food, energy, and zero waste as the key element to creating and sustaining local living economies designed to preserve our greatest natural resource, the diversity of culture and language that is our greatest collective natural resource. In the wilds of Alaska, I have planted the seeds and created the foundation to build an academy to teach these skills to the over 227 rural community leaders on how aerospace is the environmental solution that will allow regular innovation to replace extraction of minerals as the economic base for the state. The Transition Town framework is the third of five steps that are intended to build a bridge for people to move from the carbon to the hydrogen economy in the span of the next decade to put our efforts on pace with rate of change. To become all that we are meant to be as a civilization all we have to do is to accept we are caterpillars and use this time to focus on our highest individual expression and become the butterflies. A species of stewards that live with this planet and not just on her. A transition to a world where environmental economics is how we profit for generations. I'm hoping the site will help me fix networking issues connecting with other communities engaged in mutual aid. I cannot make a time commitment at this time. I have been doing the work daily since 2012 with a growing team, so i'm looking for support with guidance and focus. I have supported from the sidelines for years now getting actively engaged. I don't expect funding. I believe this site is engaged in both personal and interpersonal organizing. I always boost the orgs I give resources to. I'm here to help and be helped. I am engaged in altering my life actively and and seeking support in that. I'm not very concerned about suggestion turnaround, am used to volunteering in burns. I hope my expectations are reasonable, I feel they are.
