i work without expectations, i can only control myself and my actions

My focus is changing the current MINDSET, which i think is the most important aspect of the transition. Until a persons MINDSET changes, they will not help to make the transition. i do this through social media, mostly FB, and in person when talking with others.

I do not have new expectations, I'm keeping an open mind!

1. I feel like your organization can help navigate the many pitfalls that can plague starting a New Paradigm. To shift away from the old paradigm, reevaluating old belief systems, patterns, and changing them requires much work, more than what others expect. I hope this comprehensive process can show unique ways to ease the transition. 2. I plan to check/work daily, at the worst, weekly. 3. I'm confused with the question but I will answer this: I expect to give my all in my areas of expertise and providing as much as I can to help the Transition. I expect the Transition to help in areas that I have no knowledge or to provide unique connection, solutions, or examples of how to help achieve a more sustainable world. 4. I expect to be a team player for many years if it helps others see and act towards creating a better future. 5. I expect that most of projects started have to have grassroots beginnings where a few people share what that they can and see where the missing resources are to start small-scale projects that are profitable enough to expand the existing project or create another similarly profitable project. I do not know the funding system of the Transition but I would not ask for funding unless I had a plan that was well-developed by members of the Transition. 7. I expect this site to help both professionally and personally, whether it be connecting business connections towards creating sustainable businesses/projects, or leading to gurus/ceremonies, or healers that have solutions to emotional, physical, or spiritual problems. 8. Yes of course. 9. I am always altering my behaviors, mindset, and activities to align with the path of least harm but with the most amount postive transformation. I see the Transition aligned with this goal so yes. 10. I dunno, I expect a waiting time of around a week. 11. I do feel like it is reasonable, maybe slightly ambitious, but I'm easy-going so I keep my expectations pretty wide.

Take responsibility for the future of humanity

I am willing to do whatever it takes to help make the world a better place. As a Shaman it is my self chosen duty to heal, serve, and educate. I also lead through being a role model and a facilitator. I don't know what expectations to have for "thetransition.org" because I have not begun working with you guys yet. I am not sure what role I can best take on to assist the project nor how well it is developed to support my projects. I like what I hear so far though and I am ready to begin. I am looking for a community of like minded individuals who want to start making the world a better place! Anyone reading this can contact me to get to know me and begin working on things with me. Reach me at [email protected]. Peace, love, and joy to all!

A better choice

I came across Transition while investigation Transition Town. The home page rang true for me - in that by providing better options, we can change the world. So, I'm not looking for help to solve problems, but am looking for a way to contribute to the vision. I intend to be involved daily, at least to start, while I work on my action plan. I have no issues with doing the bulk of the work on a project. I originally registered to get more information on contributing. I guess we will see where it goes from here! I don't expect funding for projects. I would love to be able to contribute my skills to others. Yes, from what I have seen so far, I would be willing to promote this site. I don't know if it will be "life-altering", but I sure hope it will be! No specific turn around time expected. Yes, I feel my expectations are reasonable.

Flinch's Expectations of The Transition

1. Learning more about other ICs and living in ICs and visiting other ICs 2. I may not be very active, don't know yet. 3. I don't have a specific project, I am more exploring The Transition to learn more. 4. It's too soon to tell how long I'll be active, I am just exploring right now. 5. I have heard that The Transition does fundraisers such as crowdsourcing and is also in communication with ICs about funds. 6. From what I have learned so far it seems to be offering help with personal as well as professional matters. 7. I enjoy cooperation and reciprocation. If I were interested in and committed to doing more I would certainly consider what I had to give to others. 8. I don't have any skill or experience in promoting, so I would likely be unable to help with outreach. 9. I don't have expectations about this yet. I feel it's too soon to tell if my life will be changed by this. 10. Not sure yet what kind of turnaround time to expect from Suggestions Box, but I don't expect this to be an issue in any way. 11. I feel all of the above expectations i have provided are reasonable.

Meet like-minded people, gain skills and knowledge to build my plan

I am hoping to gather the skills and knowledge to gather a group of people and implement a plan to live sustainably and open a worker owned business to support the community. I have recently completed past commitments and I am setting a goal of working on my action plan here on the web weekly and daily at home. I didn't expect your organization to fund my project, I hope to have help making my funds grow or putting my funds with someone else's to build something. I am hoping for help professionally and perhaps on a personal level on community building, problem resolution and other "personal" problems that affect community building. More skills than actual personal issues. I look forward to helping others anyway I can and also receiving help from others. Yes I will help promote the site. I will be having a life changing situation and I hope the site can help me with that. I hope for a week turn around time. Yes I think my expectations are reasonable.

Robert Howes- Site Expectations

What problems do you feel we will help you solve or resolve?

Contact with others of like mind.

How active do you intend to be with the site (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)?

It will vary. In the past it has been daily but has reduced due to other commitments.

Do you expect to do the bulk of the work to get your project off the ground, or do you feel that's the role you want our Transition Team to play?

Yes, I expect to do the bulk of the work.

Do you plan to be very invested in our organization and stay with us for a long time (maybe even years) or are you registered on the site just to see what it's about?

Yes, I will stay with The Transition, long term.

How do you expect our organization to fund projects (like yours) in order to launch them?

You can only fund projects if the projects provide the funding in the first place until a generous benefactor comes along.

Do you feel our site is meant to help you solely with professional matters or personal ones too?

I had not thought too much about this. It is for The Transition to decide what help the organization can give.

Are you willing to contribute and give to others registered on the site as well as receive and take their offerings?

Yes.

Are you willing to help with promoting the site as long as you feel it is in alignment with your personal values?

Yes.

Do you expect your use of this site to be "life altering" in any way?

Possibly.

With the knowledge that we are run by a small and 100% volunteer run team, how fast do you feel our turn around time will be for any things entered into the Suggestion Box or sent to us via the Contact Us pages?

I don't mind that The Transition Team takes the time to do things right.

Do you feel all of the above expectations you have provided are reasonable? Yes.

Feel free to write any additional expectations that were not prompted at the close of your answers to the questions above.

I have (at this stage) hope rather than expectations. The Transition has given us the tools. It is for us, to use them correctly.

A summary response

1. It is my interest to work towards the establishment of a resource-based paradigm in which human development is driven beyond avarice and infantile greed to promote the advancement of civilization as is necessary in keeping with the needs of the presently living population and posterity such as expanding our social and civil infrastructure to assure universal access to food, water, housing, medical care and open communications, including achievements necessary to the survival of the species, such as the establishment of human habitats in the deep sea, in deep space and on other worlds. For such projects to be driven forward without being hoarded, sidetracked, retarded or disestablished in the interest of private greed, they must be undertaken by workers, engineers, researchers and explorers dedicated to the advancement and quality life of all people and all living things. To these ends, I believe that organizations such as this serve a greater purpose in resolving the problems faced by humanity and by an overcrowded, over-polluted and strangulated Earth. 2. If there are projects being actively undertaken to this end or people organizing towards the undertaking of such projects in the public interest, I will be active herein daily, or at the very least several times a week, in coordinating to put 40+ hours a week of effort into advancing these goals. 3. Experience has taught me that the bulk of the work in getting any project off of the ground has been my responsibility, however, I look greatly forward to meeting and coordinating with other motivated individuals willing to put an equal, mutual cooperative effort into advancing such goals towards the same ends, and I am more than willing to work as a part of any team presently engaged in such endeavors. 4. I am invested in the organization in that I know some of the people involved in establishing this group and this platform. I am dedicated to the same goals, and my participation can be expected to last for as long as I am mentally and physically fit for duty. 5. Matters of funding will depend on a particular project. For example, if I was to launch a specific public works, research or exploratory project in the immediate future, I would expect that the purposes of such a project as well as of this organization would most immediately be served by incorporating a non-profit organization dedicated to that project, for a pre-determined period of time or indefinitely, depending on the circumstances of the particular project, so that other organizations and individuals with a shared interest would be able to contribute to the capital necessary to such an undertaking, under the present paradigm, without being further taxed for their contribution. Efforts to these ends would be well-assisted with information, streamlining or capital designated for the purpose of providing such an incorporation framework. Any other assistance which can be offered, such as in organizing to partner with other organizations which can back the expense and labor of such a project (perhaps organizations such as the Corporation for National and Community Service/Americorps/Vista) would also be of great benefit in getting projects started, and seeing them through to completion. 6. I have no opinion on the question of professional and personal matters, the two are very much interconnected in that we will be getting nothing accomplished if the needs of the workers are not met, yet it is very easy for a team to turn into a constant 24/7 social club or a group counseling session, if constant distraction from the goals of the project is to be expected, thus I would consider such a team to be balanced in it's work, between seeing to the welfare of the collective as well as focusing on setting clear goals and timelines for the accomplishment of the work at hand, and sticking to them. 7. I am willing to do whatever I can to advance the projects being undertaken, and I expect it to be a cooperative effort, so yes. 8. I am willing to help with promoting the site and the organization as long as I feel that it is in alignment with my personal values. 9. I expect my involvement in any project or organization to be life altering in several ways...most notably, in the amount of free time that I have available to dedicate to other projects. 10. I have no idea how fast the turn around time for suggestions and contacts will be, I expect that it will be entirely dependent and variable based upon the size and availability of the volunteer staff dedicated to reviewing and responding to such matters. 11. I feel that my expectations are reasonable, and if they're not, I hope that someone will point out where I am in error.

Karen Fischbach- Site Expectations

Question number 1:

  1. What problems do you feel we will help you solve or resolve?
That was my question about the organization upon joining The Transition  Which problems  would the Transition help me solve or resolve?  Would this organization help with anything at all?  Is it worth my time to be involved? How much of the income generated by donations to the Transition is used directly to assist members in crisis?  For an organization that says it is a mutual aid organization, I guess I would expect a way to both provide and be provided aid.  Kind of like, when I call 211 they give me information about and referrals to organizations that can help meet needs.  At one point, such a call to 211 resulted in the local patrol officer coming to my home and physically rescuing me when I was suffering from hypothermia and at high risk for freezing to death.  I guess I expect similar services with the Transition.  If I'm in a life or death situation, I would expect more than just advise.  On the other hand, I would expect to be expected to provide aid and assistance to others, to be asked to contribute to the security of all people in the organization.  I would expect to be required to provide both volunteer hours and a financial contribution.  In emergency, life or death situations, I would expect to contribute above and beyond what I would normally contribute day to day.  Who determines what constitutes normal operations vs emergency aid, I don't know.  As an organization, we would have to develop guidelines, if these haven't already been developed.

Question number 2

How active do you intend to be with the site (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)?
It depends on how much I feel I'm getting out of being on the site.  If it is a waste of time, then not very often.  If it is really helpful, perhaps several times a day.
Question number 3

Do you expect to do the bulk of the work to get your project off the ground, or do you feel that's the role you want our Transition Team to play?
The Transition's role, in my opinion, would be to direct people to projects that are ongoing, to which those individuals could join and contribute, or to provide information and assistance to develop new projects.  Ideas for projects and day to day work and development of projects, including member benefits, need to be generated by Transition Supporters, either as individuals or as groups.  The organization needs to be able to provide access to resources to enable members to develop projects.  A portion of all resources acquired by The Transition should be designated for support of either ongoing or new projects. Ideally, projects would enhance individuals and groups ability to function and to access resources, freeing resources to be returned to The Transition, to be used to expand the organization, and to continue to support new and ongoing projects.  I see this as a  circular movement of energy.
Question number 4
  1. Do you plan to be very invested in our organization and stay with us for a long time (maybe even years) or are you registered on the site just to see what it's about?
If I donate money and volunteer with an organization, then I assume my involvement with that organization will be ongoing, perhaps over many years.  The more effective I see the organization being, the more committed I would feel toward that organization.

Question number 5
How do you expect our organization to fund projects (like yours) in order to launch them?

I would assume a portion, or percentage of overall donations would be set aside for projects that offer the most needed goods and/or services to those members in most critical need.  I would also assume The Transition would assist buds / members / groups / individuals with fund raising, in order that those  buds / members / groups / individuals  provide the most needed resources to Transition members.I see one of The Transition's roles, as an organization, is to direct member's time, energy and other resources to where it is most urgently needed, and /or to where such donations can make the biggest impact at a given moment, such that as an organization, we can focus on a set of goals.  Access to resources needs to be made available under publicly defined and agreed upon circumstances.

Question number 6
  1. Do you feel our site is meant to help you solely with professional matters or personal ones too?

Given the nature of the site and the organization, I would assume assistance would be available with both.  It is often hard to draw lines between where one's professional life ends and one's personal life begins.

Question number 7

  1. Are you willing to contribute and give to others registered on the site as well as receive and take their offerings?

Of course.

Question number 8

  1. Are you willing to help with promoting the site as long as you feel it is in alignment with your personal values?

Yes.

Question number 9

Do you expect your use of this site to be "life altering" in any way?

Yes.  If it makes no meaningful impact on my life or obvious impact on the lives of others, , why would I bother with it at all?

Question number 10

  1. With the knowledge that we are run by a small and 100% volunteer run team, how fast do you feel our turn around time will be for any things entered into the Suggestion Box or sent to us via the Contact Us pages?
It would depend on the nature of the request or suggestion.  In terms of site modifications; for instance how a directory is arranged, or whether there are links between this and that, or editing issues, a month or two would be reasonable.  But in situations where issues are time sensitive, or of a personal / professional crisis in nature, it would be important for the organization to be able to respond quickly.

Question number 11
  1. Do you feel all of the above expectations you have provided are reasonable?
Yes

My expectations

I expect to learn how to leave a minimal carbon footprint on our beautiful planet and to share any knowledge I have with others. I will check this site at least once a week. I'll do the bulk of the work but I would not turn down any offered help. I plan on staying for the long term, I think this is a worthy cause. I am willing to contribute my knowledge of mechanics and my labor whenever and wherever possible. I will post about The Transition to promote it, as long as it stays in alignment with my personal values. It would be life-altering in the knowledge and connections it would bring. Volunteers have lives, I realize that, and do not expect instant miracles. I think I'm being reasonable and I think The Transition's expectations are as well.

Expectations of joining The Transition

I expect to learn a good way to network with others that share my vision of what our planet should be like. I expect that someone(s) somewhere will help me find a way to convert our bus into an electric vehicle so we can stop using gasoline for fuel. I expect myself to access this site at least once a week to keep current with both my goals and The Transition's goals. I expect that my partner and I will work physically to achieve our goal of being non-polluters. I expect to use this network on a long-term basis. I can only assume that if The Transition helps us obtain an electric motor for our bus that cash contributions and networking with other members is how that will be accomplished. I have no professional capacity to improve unless it's my renown as an unpaid writer, and not being a constant source of pollution would improve my daily outlook on life. I have a few skills that could be of use, somewhere, I'm sure, and my partner is a certified small engine mechanic and very talented with older vehicles. We own our own tools, and would gladly volunteer our labor, tools and/or knowledge to any transition member. I can't imagine turning any other's assistance down. I agree with all I've read about your goals, and would gladly promote The Transition any way I have available. I have some experience with volunteerism and realize sometimes you have to wait a bit for responses from an all-volunteer organization. I want to live harmoniously with people and the planet and I expect The Transition will help me learn how best to accomplish that.

Site Expectations

1. I expect to be constantly mildly annoyed by this brand of philosophy with no particular benefits. 2. Intermittently 3. I don't have a project, and this philosophy of constant goal-seeking is part of my problem. 4. You expect people to answer this during their first interaction with your site? I guess this is a psych question that encourages people to envision themselves into the future at a point of high energy/engagement (presumably now), and causing them to steer their future goals towards site engagement. I'm not in this state so this question means nothing. 5. I don't. 6. Neither. 7. I don't know who they are or what sort of things people contribute. 8. I don't think the overall philosophy of this site aligns with my personal values. 9. No. 10. I don't care. 11. I think the degree that being exposed to your philosophy annoys the shit out of me is a little irrational, but it seems like combining my mother, an overenthusiastic middle school teacher, and a project management app. 12. I logged in after Nicole mentioned that some people have multiple accounts, and I wondered about that, and I realized, hmm, I've never done any steps in My Action Plan, I wonder why? And then I looked at step one and I'm like "oh, that's why, passive-aggressive mind games couched as questions."

Guidance

1. Receiving guidance in a general way to help me determine what my next steps are/what I might undertake. 2. Weekly, maybe daily. 3. Cannot answer at this point. 4. I'd like to stay for a long time! 5. Cannot answer at this point. 6. Both 7. Yes. 8. Yes. 9. Definitely! 10. Contact us - maybe 2-3 days. Suggestion box - 7-10 days. 11. Yes. ---I have been trying for the past couple of years to figure out what it is that I want to change about my life and society in general. I hope that this site will allow me to discern this!
