Street noises, children crying, dogs barking, machines running, neighbors-all these can cause noise. Some people are very sensitive to any kind of noise and can't sleep in an apartment on a busy avenue. Others can live in apartments that are eye level with elevated trains that go by every 10 minutes. Some people need silence to be able to concentrate on their activities.
