Give Direction to Those Looking for Solutions
Many people have a firm grasp about what they DON't want in their personal lives, and what they DON'T like going on in the world; but they often struggle with knowing what they DO want or if they do, they don't know how to get "there". In frustration they might make a post like the one Mike Wilson made on his Facebook personal profile:
One of our Supporters Jordan Conley saw the post and responded to it:
As you can see Mike was very receptive with what Jordan had to share asking for more information. He's rather new to The Transition so he tagged me in the conversation to help give Mike what he asked for. I then shared with him the Sustainable Living Podcast interview because it acts as a good overview about our org and answers most people's questions that we at The Transition hear repeatedly. I then also encourage Jordan to sign up because he had confessed in his comment he had not done so himself and stressed that ACTION is more important than time or perfection.
Seeing how I responded to his tag and the information I provided Jordan then decided to piggyback off of my comment and tag a few more of his friends so he could invite them to listen to the podcast as well.

The Transition Needs Help to Complete Alternative Currency Integration
We started working with GrantCoin back in 2015 to integrate their currency with our site.
Above is a video from The Twin Oaks Communities Conference where it is mentioned officially we began working with GrantCoin.
The project is not finished because we are waiting for their team to complete it. For additional details on how you can help please check out this page.
Look at the Progress You've Made in 2017!
Throughout the year The Transition Team has been privileged to hear about all the wins and successes registered website users are having in their private lives during their Review Sessions. Here are some of the highlights of the things we have heard about:
- Pooled funds with their BUD to invest in land to start their own intentional community
- Repaired their relationships with family members and a friend they have not spoken to in over 10 years with resources provided by their Point Person
- United their BUD from separate states in order to move collectively to another country to start their intentional community
- Wrote a Trust with their BUD
- Registered their BUD on The Transition website
- Became a Transition volunteer
- Started their intentional community
- Begun to determine their BUD's strengths in order to form cottage industries to collectively earn income to support themselves
- Got featured on a podcast to talk about and highlight their project
- Attended the Twin Oaks Communities Conference
- Finished the current Phase they were on Your Action Plan
- Developed new skills they can register on the site
- Completed a course or certification program
- Determined the intention behind their project
- Begun to have regular BUD meetings
- Hosted a potluck
- Lead a workshop on their area of expertise
- Completed the filming and editing of their documentary and had a successful launch
- Began to utilize Non-Violent Communication in their everyday life
- Joined a pre-existing BUD
We've realized that The Transition could be much more successful if users also took the time to develop a summary of some of their progress and successes and submitted them to The Transition, so we can highlight them on our Updates page. This way other people can see that The Transition does "work" and that users are experiencing different levels of success while using Your Action Plan. To help us do that please keep our team informed by submitting your own personal gains and wins at our Report Portal.
Answer the Questions
Loraine posted a status that expressed his deepest desire and it popped up in my Facebook feed.
I made a comment directly in reference to that status which he "liked".
At this time he was already aware about my personal values and how they align with his own due to being my Facebook friend. He also knew about my affiliation with The Transition since he was part of our Facebook group when we were doing research and development for our website and recruiting beta testers. However, he never became a beta tester or migrated over when we shut down our temporary Facebook group page once our website was launched. My comment demonstrates to him exactly what he needs to do to get what it is he says he wants in his status. Our website was designed specifically for people exactly like him! Everyone needs a fellow "crazy dancing person". Your Action Plan was designed to do just that!
Many others replied to his thread as well. One of them commented a question directly below his "call to arms"to which I replied.
After reading my response Loraine then "liked" my comment. My one comment by default could potentially have an impact on getting Loraine back involved with The Transition and maybe inspire his FB friend Peter to get involved as well. As interest builds on this thread many other folks may find themselves ready to take action too. When people ask questions or vent their concerns answer the "call", direct them to where they need to go to make their dreams and aspirations happen.
The Herland Project
At the start of pioneering the Herland project, Lucie, Kate and I traveled around the United States for a couple of months, doing various things that would be necessary before heading south. A lot of that time was spent in the southwest, in the states of Arizona and New Mexico, but a trip to Texas was eventually required in order for us to get some paperwork done for a VISA to one of the countries we planned on going through.
We were on our way there and had made updates saying we were going to a specific place in Texas. Nicole asked us more specifically where we were going, and it turned out that Nicole’s home was on our way there, and she invited us to stay there overnight. We parked our truck with a camper on top (as well as our towed-along trailer) on her lawn, brought out some chairs and snacks and started talking. Hours went on and we went through many subjects, intentional communities and activism were among them.
We ended up staying for two more nights. The second evening carried on in the same spirit as the first one, while on the third Nicole had to focus more on her work online. The stay was great and we were able to rest and regain our energy. Nicole provided us with water for our water tanks, a wifi connection and a good boost of morale from the intellectual discussions and positive encouragement.
Less than a month after leaving Nicole’s we were in Mexico, and right around Christmas of 2016 we arrived at the Mexican RV Park, called San Juan Del Lago (which is still under construction). The owner, Arturo, was really nice to us and drove us around and showed us where to go to get various things in the surrounding towns. Both Kate and I had to go to doctors during our stay, and they had excellent medical facilities. It was cheap, you were given care fast, and the doctors really seemed to know what they were talking about. Arturo came along each time to help with translating.
After being at Arturo’s RV park for a while we continued our travels to the location we had in mind for the Ecovillage. We are now pretty much "here", we are just looking for the perfect spot on which to build the Ecovillage.
